Here you go Rick

When I first set eyes on this one, my immedite reaction was to do something whimsical and punny. It behooved me to milk it for all it was worth, something mad, cowardly steering you…

Well, you get the picture. However, after still being awake at 5:30 on Saturday morning (not by choice), the title came to me and from there the words morphed and were fit into place. I give you…

The swirling twisting light
Reaching from the height
Ever struggling below
Creative patterns flow

Clamouring with no sounds
Chaotic mass abounds
Emotions deeply delved
The damage never shelved

Drop all discordant thought
Patterns viewed or not
Visions seldom granted
When flexing power slanted

Something different today
A veil is pulled away
Amidst the frantic dawn
Before the light moves on

Centered on solid ground
A totem will be found
Standing in a field
Your animal revealed

Hmmm, it seems I did manage to retain one very subtle pun at the end there πŸ™‚

  1. you are a NUT! i love it. it’s great!

  2. Superb……………..

  3. And it’s much better now that it is formatted as I originally intended (four stanzas of paired rhyming couplets – as you see it now) NOT as just one big stanza. Sorry to those who had to read it the other way.

  4. Damn son — youz a poet!

  5. Wahoo!! This is really COOL!

  6. Beautiful sound. I loved the lifting of the veil to reveal a totem. Great flow to this poem.

  7. Nah Greybeard, ’cause if I knew it, I wouldn’t do it πŸ˜‰

Thx bear. That’s my first blog ‘wahoo!’ ever. *blushes*

Hi mariachristina. Thanks for visiting and your kind comments. I too like the ‘sound’ of this one.

  8. […] Arkay, of the pessimistic idealist, wrote MAELSTROM […]

  9. Somehow i missed the point. Probably lost in translation πŸ™‚ Anyway … nice blog to visit.

    cheers, Computerized

  10. ehhheeeh… reVEALed…

  11. *pat’s self on back* …Ya, that was one of my best ones in there *grin*
